DIY Lip Scrub for Soft, Plump Lips

Hello all! Much of my day consists of wearing tons of lip products, whether it be lipsticks or liptints. I'm always experimenting & trying all sorts of shades because, well, it's lot of fun! Sometimes I forget to give my lips a proper break from all that & they collect a layer of dead skin & toxins. Using a lip scrub helps remove that unwanted layer that keeps lipstick from looking flawless. This technique also temporarily plumps the lips, so it can be beneficial to use right before going out (especially if there will be kissing involved).

For this simple scrub, all that's needed is coconut oil, honey & brown sugar. Coconut oil & honey are super hydrating for the lips, so they will replace the dead skin cells with moisture & antioxidants. If you are missing one of the ingredients, it is okay to substitute it with olive oil because that's also very hydrating with many natural benefits. The brown sugar acts as an exfoliant in removing the layer of unwanted dead skin cells that have been collecting over a period of time.

1/2 tbs raw honey
1 tbs pure, unrefined coconut oil (or olive oil)
1 tbs brown sugar (white sugar works too)

Mix it together & apply to bare lips using finger for about 30 seconds to a minute. The lips should feel tingly & look a tiny bit swollen due to the exfoliation, but they will feel incredibly soft! Rinse off mixture & follow up with lip balm or any type of moisturizer for the lips. I like to use vaseline because it hydrates my lips for a long period of time.

If you have any lip scrub leftover, save it for later. It should last a while, so you can use it a few times. However, I recommend only doing a lipscrub at most once a week because too much exfoliation can harm the lips overtime. I use one about once every couple weeks, but it all depends on your preference.

They sell lipscrubs at the store, but I prefer to make my own because it's more natural & affordable. Everyone needs to take care of their lips & lip scrubs are a great way to do so. Soooo pucker up & treat them lips!
